This book covers the operation, components, diagnosis and service of the systems used today in cars, light trucks, medium duty and heavy duty trucks. The start of the book covers the theory behind the operation of the ac system and heat transfer. It then goes on to explain the different types of refrigerant, refrigerant oils and their application. There are 2 main types of AC systems which are both covered extensively. The Thermo-Expansion Valve (TXV) system uses an H-Block type control valve and the Orifice Tube system used by GM (CCOT) and Ford for many years. Both of these systems while similar do have distingue differences. Each of the components is covering detail as well as the service procedures to replace them. The heating and engine cooling systems are also covered as they are part of the heater in the vehicle.
Diagnosis of the AC and heating systems are covered with examples of gauge readings and temperature comparisons.
Service of the AC system includes the use of a Recovery and Recharging machine, black light leak detection and Refrigerant Identifier.
